Christmas recipe, swedish meatballs

Swedish meatballs are probably one of the best known Swedish cooking specialties. Use cream instead of milk for a great taste. This is not a lean recipe, but it's suitable as a holiday dish and it is very tasteful.

Mix everything to an even batter, and form small, round balls.

Form small meatballs.

Brown in frying pan, use butter.

About swedish meatballs

Swedish meatballs is made of ground beef, or a mix of ground beef and ground pork. Other ingredients are bread or breadcrumbs, minced onions, eggs and spices. Fry the meatballs in a frying pan or on a roasting pan in the oven.

The size of a meatball is usually about one inch in diameter however if the meatballs are served on hollidays or special occassions they tend be be smaller.

How to serve swedish meatballs

The traditional swedish way to eat meatballs is with cooked potatoes, gravy and serve with a dollop of lingonberry preserves.

Meatballs can also be served with pasta and ketchup.

Slice meatballs into peace's and put on a peace of bread.

Serve swedish meatballs as an appetizer with pickled cucumbers.

Swedish meatballs is traditionally served for christmas eve dinner together with other traditional dishes.

2 lb of mixed minced meat (25% pork, 75% beef)
3/4 cup of bread crumbs
1/2 cup of heavy cream
1.5 = 2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
pinch of ground ginger
pinch of cardamom 1 minced onion
